Are you ready for the next major milestone in your flight training journey? Have you completed your Multi-Engine Piston Class Rating (MEP) and your Basic Instrument Flying Module (BIFM)? Then prepare for the next stage of your career with our Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) module. The CPL module is the essential milestone that grants you the right to seek employment as a pilot, either as an Instructor or a pilot in command of an aircraft that holds less than nine passengers. Getting a Commercial Pilot Licence also acts as a stepping stone towards a career as a commercial airline pilot!

Our CPL module is intended to follow on shortly after completing your MEP and BIFM, and you can complete your CPL training in the UK at our Cranfield Training Centre, or in the U.S. at our Orlando Flight School.

What is included in the Commercial Pilot Licence course price?

Commercial Pilot Licence training entry criteria

To enrol on our Commercial Pilot Licence course you will need to meet the following entry criteria:

Experience 

  • Private Pilot Licence
  • 150 hours flight time to commence your CPL pilot training (further minimum hours applies to eligibility for CPL Skills Test
  • Passes in all ATPL Theoretical Knowledge exams
  • Multi-Engine Piston Class Rating and Basic Instrument Flying Module

Age and height

  • 17+ to submit an application. 18+ to commence CPL pilot training
  • Height between 5 ft. 2 in. (157 cm) and 6 ft. 3 in. (191 cm). Applicants outside of this may still apply for the CPL course but will need an ergonomic assessment

Language

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Non-native English speakers must achieve level 5.5 individual and overall in IELTS or equivalent ICAO level 4 prior to start of training

Visas (depending on if you take our CPL course in the UK or U.S.A.)

  • Unrestricted right to live, study and work in the UK (e.g. UK national, EU national with settled or pre-settled status)
  • If required: Meet the United Kingdom Visa & Immigration Service requirements to qualify for a Visitor (study for six months or less) or Student visa (study for more than six months)
  • If required, obtain / be able to obtain M-1 Student Visa for your flight training in the U.S.A.

Medical

  • Obtain / be able to obtain a UKCAA or EASA unrestricted Class 1 Medical depending on your chosen route. Find out more about the necessary medical requirements
