There are several approaches to pilot training; whether it be integrated, modular or a university degree, each training approach is designed to equip you with the qualification needed to apply for a role as a First Officer with the ultimate goal of becoming a Captain.

Start your journey

We offer  the most popular approaches to pilot training: Integrated ATPL, Degree Programme and Modular ATPL training.

  • Step 2 – UK or Europe licence

You’ll need to decide whether you want to obtain your UKCAA licence or EASA licence.

A UKCAA licence is issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) enabling you to become a pilot for airlines registered in the UK.

An EASA licence is approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) enabling you to become a pilot for airlines registered in Europe.

All of our flight schools are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as single-and-multi-engine aircraft and flight simulators, and provide you with access to vastly experienced instructors.

Our flight schools, are based in the following locations:

Step 1 - Attend an Open Day

Take your first step to becoming a cadet at British Aero Academy by attending an Open Day.

You’ll have the opportunity to see the campus, find out more information about the pilot programmes we offer, chat with current cadets as well as flight instructors and career advisors.

Ultimately, our Open Days will help you get a real feel for life at British Aero Academy during your pilot training.

Step 3 – Integrated ATPL, Modular ATPL or degree

With several training routes to choose from, it is important to establish the most suitable approach to training for you.

Integrated ATPL

Integrated ATPL training is the most direct route to becoming a pilot; our shortest integrated training programme can be completed in approximately 70 weeks.

We also offer the Flexible ATPL – this programme still means you work towards the same end result as our Integrated programme, with all the benefits, but it also offers you flexibility to take breaks in between modules.

Degree

Our BSc (Hons) Aviation Pilot Programme follows the Integrated ATPL syllabus and all credits earned during pilot training will count towards the final degree meaning you’ll graduate with an aviation degree and an ATPL.

Modular

Our Modular ATPL training allows you to complete individual courses, depending on where you are in your training journey.

Flying Start ATPL

The Flying Start course is designed for those who have passed their UKCAA or EASA ATPL Theoretical Knowledge exams – either via the modular route, or integrated route with another ATO – and are ready to take to the skies!

Step 4 - Consider your funding

Pilot training is a large investment which requires a lot of thought and preparation.

We are not able to offer any pilot training financial advice however, we would suggest that potential candidates speak with their families and a variety of banks, lenders and independent financial advisers who will be best placed to discuss the finance and funding solutions available for pilot training.

Ensure you have the means of funding your pilot training prior to applying.
